Thomas Lundquist is CEO of HealthNEXT, a fundamentally unique company focused on significantly and measurably improving the health, wellness, and well-being of employees working within industry-leading companies worldwide.

Prior to taking the helm of HealthNEXT, Lundquist served as President, Vital Insights, LLC, providing transformational insights for healthcare start-ups and innovators, integrated health systems, employer benefits consultants and regional health plans focused on meeting the goals of the quintuple aim. Dr Lundquist is an experienced healthcare senior executive with nearly 30 years of progressive, strategic, operational & fiscal leadership across various healthcare sectors, working successfully in venture capital-backed start-ups, growth phase early innovative companies, front line health care systems operations, integrated healthcare delivery systems, pharmacy network and distribution operations, large hospital networks, managed care organizations, large self-insured national and international employers, and state and county governmental agencies. Most recently, he has successfully served as Chief Medical Officer, Highmark Health Plans and as Chief Medical Officer for Sentara Health Plans.

Lundquist has served many thousands of clinicians and many hundreds of thousands of patients, improving their health & wellness, workplace safety, and clinical outcomes through the promotion of effective & transformative models of care delivery, payment innovation, and game-changing community engagement and employer-sponsored initiatives. Across his leadership roles, Lundquist has remained passionately committed and undeterred in pursuing the realization of what we now know as the Quintuple Aim, as well as in the pursuit of personal, community, and corporate health, wellness, and well-being.

Lundquist completed his Doctor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Medical & Surgical Center. He received his Masters in Medical Management from and then joined the faculty at the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy & Management at Carnegie Mellon University teaching courses in Health Care Quality and Executive Leadership to physician executives pursuing Masters degrees for many years at The Heinz School.

Lundquist during his career, has served and continues to serve on numerous Board of Directors. In 2002 he was awarded the Caritas Flame of Hope “Heroes of Healing” by Catholic Charities in Pittsburgh. He is a fellow of the American College of Physician Executives and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
