Senior Physician Executive
Mark Bloomberg, M.D. is an expert in the improvement of healthcare quality and the application of information technology to healthcare settings. As Senior Physician Executive/Physician Executive Strategist with HealthNEXT, he works to improve the healthcare provided by medical groups and hospitals. In addition to his role with HealthNEXT, Dr. Bloomberg is President of The Bloomberg Healthcare Group, a consulting practice dedicated to the education of medical students, residents, practicing physicians and physician executives. Prior to joining HealthNEXT, Dr. Bloomberg was Chief Medical Officer of Private Healthcare Systems, a national PPO. Before that, he served as the Corporate Medical Director of Tufts Health Plans and as the Chief Medical Officer of WiFiMed, Inc.
Dr. Bloomberg became an NCQA physician surveyor in 1991 and served on NCQA’s Review Oversight Committee from 1995-2001. In 2013, he became an NCQA-Certified PCMH Content Expert. Dr. Bloomberg continues his surveying work with NCQA, with an emphasis on the Medical Home and training of new surveyors. He is also a frequent presenter in the field of medical management and a published author.
Dr. Bloomberg received his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School and completed his residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital of Boston, MA and then spent 12 years practicing internal medicine. He went on to receive his MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Dr. Bloomberg is board certified in both internal medicine and medical management. He is on the faculty of the Tufts University School of Medicine and the Harvard School of Public Health and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives.
